Chichester Men’s Shed hits the jackpot
Chichester Men’s Shed has been awarded a grant of almost £20,000 by the National Lottery Community Fund. The grant will assist in the development and equipment of the two workshops and the social space.
Since signing a 20-year lease of the site on the Fishbourne Playing Fields last summer, Shedders have repurposed the former cricket pavilion as a social space and have purchased and erected two wooden sheds to be used as workshops. Membership has grown and is now almost 40 of whom 7 are female.
The Shed is open every Monday and Thursday morning from 10 a.m.
Brian Bird, Chairman of CMS said, “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to press on with our plans to develop the workshops and social space as a place for anyone (male or female) aged 18 or more to make stuff, make friends, learn and share skills, socialise in safe and friendly surroundings and have fun”.
